2024 Eco-Scheme Balancing Payments Begin

Balancing payments under the 2024 Eco-Scheme have commenced, following an announcement by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). These 2024 Eco-Scheme payments mean that 113,625 farmers have been paid €289 million under the Eco-Scheme since October. This latest round of payments will result in €84.6 million being issued to all eligible farmers and complete their Eco-Scheme payments for 2024.

These Eco-Scheme balancing payments are valued at 30% of all payments following the 70% advance paid in October. Farmers’ will find these payments in their bank accounts in the coming days. All remaining cases for payment will be made by DAFM as soon as they meet the scheme criteria. Any farmers with outstanding requests for documentation from DAFM are asked to return these in order to allow payments to issue.

At the announcement of the Eco-scheme 2024 balancing payments, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, T.D. said:

The aim of Ireland’s Eco-Scheme is to reward farmers for undertaking actions beneficial to the climate, environment, water quality and biodiversity. Eco-Scheme payments are a vital support to recompense farmers who partake in this valuable work.
