Case Studies
A wide range of interesting and innovative activity is currently taking place in the Irish agricultural and rural space. CAP Network Ireland is committed to highlighting good practices carried out by farmers and rural communities who have availed of funding and support under the CAP Strategic Plan (CSP) 2023-2027.
Case studies will focus on farmers who are leading the way in growing high quality food while helping to tackle environmental and climatic issues that face society today. Much of this activity is being enabled by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) through various agri-environment schemes offered under the CSP. CAP Network Ireland will endeavour to show how farmers are integrating these schemes into their businesses to make them more financially and environmentally sustainable. Through these case studies, you will meet farmers at the forefront of change in the agricultural sector, who are providing valuable environmental services alongside standard production systems. You will read about farmers growing food in new and more sustainable ways and learn about the growing numbers of women who are now earning their living in agriculture.
Other case studies will place the spotlight on rural individuals, communities and enterprises who have availed of funding under the ‘bottom-up’ LEADER Programme 2023-2027, which is administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD). These examples will showcase the diversity and geographical spread of LEADER supported projects throughout the country and will demonstrate how the Programme is affecting positive change in Ireland, not only through capital investment, but more specifically through the enhancement and accumulation of social capital in rural areas.
This library is growing and new case studies will be added on a continuous basis. If you have, or know of, an interesting story to tell, contact CAP Network Ireland at john@irishrurallink.ie
