The ACRES Co-operation Scheme is a results-based agri-environmental programme delivered under Ireland's CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027. The scheme is aimed at farmers located in eight high-priority zones. It offers annual supports based on scorecards, non-productive investments, and landscape actions.

ACRES CP Capacity Building 

On 23rd June 2026, CAP Network Ireland, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, hosted a capacity building workshop for ACRES CP stakeholders in Gort, Co. Galway. The event sparked the conversation on the delivery of the current ACRES Co-Operation Programme and delved into the development of the future agri-environmental programme.

Jack Nolan from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, discussed the intricacies of the current ACRES Co-Operation Programme, highlighting both its successes and areas requiring further improvement. Michael Keane from the EU Division, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, provided an update on negotiations at European level, and discussed a potential framework for future agri-environmental programmes. A stakeholder workshop then brought attendees together to ideate on the future of environmental stewardship and propose improvements in the practical application of the programme. Attendees also visited a local farm where landscape actions and measures such as multi-species swards, protection of watercourses, tree and hedgerow planting, and renewable energy resources were demonstrated to further highlight the abundance of potential environmental benefits of ACRES CP implementation in action.
