New Guidelines for the Visual Identification of LEADER

Feb 6, 2025 | LEADER

The European Commission has recently issued new guidelines to member states on how LEADER should be identified visually in CAP Strategic Plans 2023-2027 throughout Europe. This updated guidance outlines how references made to the current LEADER Programme and related funding should appear for example on posters, online on social media and websites, and on buildings.

One of the most significant updates from previous iterations of the LEADER programme is the discontinuation of the LEADER logo. The advice from the EU Commission is to no longer use the green, white, and yellow squared logo to symbolise LEADER supported materials, projects and initiatives.

Instead, from now on, the word ‘LEADER’ should be used, with the tag line ‘Development led by local communities’ placed directly underneath. This tag line can be translated into Member State languages. The Irish translation is: Forbairt á stiúradh ag pobail áitiúla. The European Union emblem should be also used when signalling the EU financial contribution.

In addition, there is valuable information in these guidelines pertaining to the font type, size, positioning and colours to be utilised when visually identifying LEADER.
