EIP-AGRI Operational Groups are groups of people with complementary knowledge who co-create practical solutions for agriculture, forestry and rural communities in an innovation project. These Operational Groups are created in response to a funding call launched by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Operational Groups are formed at the initiative of farmers, foresters and other professionals involved and their goal is to tackle a practical problem or innovative opportunity that may lead to an innovative solution. The results need to be applicable and ready for practice, so that farmers, foresters or rural communities can apply them in their everyday work.

CAP Network Ireland’s Innovation Hub is running an EIP-Agri Knowledge Transfer Pilot which looks to source and share innovative knowledge from past Operational Groups with key stakeholders to encourage uptake and application. This strategic process will also aim to better understand the outcomes and any next steps to progress impactful knowledge.

The team will analyse EIP-Agri projects in Ireland funded under its Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 (extended to 2022) across two thematic calls: Call 5 Stream B Farm and Community Biodiversity, and Call 4 Stream A General Health and Safety, to identify potential knowledge and innovation which may have wider applications in line with the strategic needs of Ireland’s agricultural sector. The team will begin interacting with past project participants from May 2024 onwards.
