Irish Participation to date
As we move towards the final year of the Horizon Europe Programme Irish participants have continued to perform extremely well in Cluster 6 funded projects. To date Irish participants have drawn down approximately €176M. They coordinate over 40 EU projects and have over 450 partner participations.
Over 1,130 proposals submitted in latest Cluster 6 calls
The first set of Horizon Europe - Cluster 6 calls for 2026 are now closed. The European Commission have received a total of 1,132 proposals competing for up to €405.4 million in EU funding to support research and innovation across the Food, Climate Action, Communities and Governance areas in Cluster 6. Results of these calls are expected in July.
Open Calls:
€210 million available for research in biodiversity, circular economy and zero pollution
The Commission has made €210 million available for innovative research in biodiversity and ecosystem services, circular economy and bioeconomy, and clean environment and zero pollution. Applications are to be submitted by 17 September 2026. Please find more information here.
€170 million available under the CBE JU to fund projects advancing competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe.
The CBE JU 2026 Call is now open with over €170M available to fund projects across 13 different topic areas – these range from breakthrough and sustainable bio-based textile fibres to films and coatings for circular packaging. Closing date for applications is the 22September 2026. Full details on the call for proposals can be found here
