1st meeting of the EU CAP Network’s Thematic Group on Protein Crops – Scaling Production

This Thematic Group (TG) will provide an opportunity to explore how to scale up protein crop production in the EU, identify enabling conditions, and assess coherent policy mechanisms to support use on farms and across value chains.
Aims of the meeting:
- Share good practices and examples of approaches taken so far to improve protein crop and plant-based protein production at farm level in ways that are sustainable and resilient and the role played by the value chain.
- Identify the barriers that currently hold back protein crop production in Member States
- Discuss what actions are required to overcome these barriers and stimulate a scaling up of production, covering actions at farm level as well as through the value chain.
- Explore the main areas of interest for further in-depth discussion.
