EU FarmBook – A Tool for You?

by admin_username | Apr 17, 2026 | AKIS, Farm Viability, Innovation

The EU FarmBook platform is being developed with the aim of collecting all the tangible outputs of EU-funded research and innovation projects in one place to help get practical knowledge into the hands of farmers, foresters, advisors and other rural actors across Europe. The platform provides access to trustworthy practice-oriented materials according to findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) data principles.

Building on the recognised value of open science, the EU FarmBook is advocating for the widespread sharing of publicly funded research results from Horizon Europe funded projects and operational groups alike.

The platform was officially launched back in December of 2025, and you can now explore the large collection of knowledge objects available using the search function, results can be filtered by topic, country or project. The idea is that these reliable results are freely available across Europe and a strong emphasis on multilinguality means that you can access results in your native language regardless of the language they were written in, allowing knowledge exchange across language barriers.

One of the key features under development is the AI Farm Assistant, a chat bot designed to respond to user queries based on the information uploaded and hosted on the EU FarmBook. Each response also cites the original sources of the information and provides a link to the materials so that users can delve deeper into the outputs from specific projects or on specific topics.

This provides an excellent jumping off point, especially for advisors, as it allows them to get a sense of the research that has been done and a summary of the findings available, when faced with challenges brought to them by clients.
