Drawing Inspiration from the Previous LEADER Programme

Mar 13, 2024 | LEADER

With the 2023-2027 LEADER programme opening for applications across the country in the near future, why not check out a selection of the projects funded under the previous programme?

In late 2021, the National Rural Network (NRN) produced and published a special booklet, which celebrates the success of the LEADER Programme in Ireland over the previous 30 years. This publication tells the stories of 72 inspirational LEADER projects located throughout Ireland funded under the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 (extended to 2022).

Through its ‘bottom up’, locally-led, framework, the LEADER Programme supports the delivery of local development actions which address the overarching needs of rural communities throughout Ireland in an innovative, integrated and inclusive manner. Each of the 29 Local Action Groups (LAGs) throughout Ireland and their respective Implementing Partners (IPs) are represented in this publication.

The booklet is a useful resource for anybody interested in rural development and showcases projects funded across the themes of economic development, enterprise development and job creation; social inclusion; and the rural environment. It is hoped that the booklet will help future applicants see what is possible through LEADER’s community-led approach to rural development.

You can freely access the booklet here.
