The latest edition of the EU CAP Network’s LEADER newsletter is now available. This publication offers an overview of key LEADER activities facilitated by the EU CAP Network and its national partners, along with inspiring success stories from the ground.
Produced quarterly, the newsletter includes a wealth of insights. Headlining the March 2025 edition is a wide ranging article on the progress of the 2023-2027 LEADER programme in Austria, Italy, and Lithuania. It highlights Austria’s focus on creating local solutions to both global and local challenges, Italy’s advancements in Smart Villages, and Lithuania’s targeted efforts on social and community-based businesses.
Elsewhere in the newsletter, an article on the EU Commission’s Vision for Agriculture and Food is of particular interest, due to its recent launch in February 2025. The piece details how the Vision emphasises close engagement with stakeholders at local and regional levels to boost competitiveness and sustainability of the agri-food sector. It also cites how effective participatory local development tools like LEADER/community-led local development and other forms of cooperation such as Smart Villages will be further strengthened through the Vision.
Other highlights in this edition include stories on the prize winners of the Agricultural and Rural Inspiration Awards (ARIA) 2024; insights from Estonia on lump-sum payments for LEADER; perspectives from young LEADER stakeholders across the EU; details of a new assessment tool in Luxembourg to demonstrate LEADER’s added value; and much more.
