Roscommon LEADER Partnership will welcome Dara Calleary, Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, on Thursday, 30th July 2026, for a special showcase event celebrating the impact of the LEADER Programme across County Roscommon over the past three decades.
The event, taking place in Kilbride from 11am to 1pm, will highlight the achievements of community groups, rural enterprises, volunteers, and local leaders who have contributed to community-led local development throughout Roscommon.
The showcase will feature projects supported under successive LEADER programmes from the pilot initiative in 1991 through to the current 2023 - 2027 LEADER Programme. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with project promoters, board representatives, staff members, and community organisations who have played a central role in delivering rural development across the county.
The showcase will begin with an interactive exhibition allowing the Minister and invited guests to tour themed tables representing different LEADER programme periods. Businesses, community initiatives and food producers supported through LEADER funding will demonstrate the wide-ranging social and economic impact of the programme in County Roscommon.
It will then be followed by a series of reflections regarding the LEADER Programme’s achievements, the current LEADER programme and the future of community-led local development. The Minister will deliver the keynote address on the day highlighting the importance local development partnerships.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary added:
