EU LIFE: European Sustainable Energy Week 2024

Mar 13, 2024 | Green Architecture

From the 11th -13th of June 2024, LIFE will host the most significant event on renewables and efficient energy use in Europe – European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW). This year’s theme is ‘Net-zero competitiveness driving EU energy transition’ and applications are already open. The EUSEW Awards recognise outstanding individuals and projects for their innovation and efforts in the field of energy efficiency and renewables. The 2024 winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on the 11th of June 2024 in Brussels.

European Youth Energy Day

The fifth European Youth Energy Day will take place during EUSEW 2024 and will once again give young people aged 18-34 the opportunity to share their vision for Europe’s energy future. A call was launched for ambitious young professionals that are contributing to the energy transition. This call for applications closed on the 3rd of March.

In 2023, EUSEW presented the first cohort of 30 Young Energy Ambassadors, selected on the basis of their efforts towards accelerating Europe’s clean energy transition. They successfully brought together 22 nationalities aged between 20 and 35.

They participated in:

  • A world-café style co-creation session alongside representatives from the European Commission dedicated to solving concrete problems relating to the energy transition.
  • A policy session, led by Yes-Europe and open to all EUSEW attendees, which explored the social, economic, and environmental issues related to energy communities and solutions to address them.

The European Youth Energy Day, in the context of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), has been organised since 2020. Each year, it gives young participants (aged 18-34) the chance to get involved in Europe’s sustainable energy transition.

In line with the theme of ‘Accelerating the clean energy transition – towards lower bills and greater skills’, the European Youth Energy Day 2023 addressed how enabling access to education, skills acquisition, and inclusive career opportunities can help drive forward the energy transition.

Host a stand at the Energy Fair

The call to host a stand at EUSEW 2024 is now open until 15 March 2024. By hosting a stand at the Energy Fair this year, SMEs and start-ups, industry and professional associations, networks of national, regional and local authorities, consumer associations, citizens’ groups, youth associations and many more, will have additional networking opportunities and improved outreach to communities and professionals working in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

At the EUSEW Energy Fair, you can host an onsite stand to present your activities in a physical booth.   Successful applicants will be supported by the event and technical teams (i.e. for logistics, audiovisual services, training, etc.). The Energy Fair will take place in parallel to the EUSEW Policy Conference in Brussels, from the 11th to the 13th of June 2024.  The Fair is open to all onsite attendees at EUSEW 2024.

Featuring SMEs and start-ups, industry and professional associations, networks of national, regional, and local authorities, consumer associations, citizens’ groups, youth associations and many more, the Energy Fair fosters deep social connections and information-sharing by bringing together key players in the field of sustainable energy. It will provides the opportunity for participants and stakeholders alike to exchange ideas on policies and best practices and is a chance to lay foundations for future cooperation.

If you are contributing to a clean, secure, and efficient energy system, then the European Sustainable Energy Week is for you.
