Apr 24, 2024 | EIP-AGRI

Minister of State, Pippa Hackett, has unveiled further plans for European Innovation Partnership (EIP) projects across the themes of Animal Health and Welfare, and Gender Balance in Farming in Ireland. This follows the two recently announced projects, The Breeding Waders EIP, and The Water Quality EIP.

Expressing enthusiasm, Minister Hackett stated, “I am pleased to announce the upcoming round of projects under the European Innovation Partnerships, focusing on Animal Health and Welfare, and Gender Balance in Farming in Ireland. These areas are increasingly recognised as pivotal within our sector.”

These next two calls – Call 2 and Call 3 – will focus on Animal Health and Welfare and Gender Balance, respectively. Each of the selected projects will be funded for a period of between 3 and 5 years, with a maximum budget allocation of €650,000.00 per project.

Highlighting the effectiveness of EIPs in fostering collaboration, she added, “EIPs have proven to be effective platforms for farmers and stakeholders to address agriculture’s challenges through innovation.”

Minister Hackett emphasised the Department’s commitment to advancing farming practices through EIPs, anticipating positive engagement and future calls for proposals. She noted the forthcoming focus on environmental themes like soil health and climate mitigation.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, commended the Department’s investment in EIPs, foreseeing success in the upcoming projects.

The project launch features a two-phase process, beginning with Expressions of Interest from Operational Groups, followed by detailed proposals. Minister Hackett has underscored the importance of Operational Groups in fostering innovation through local collaboration.
