Final meeting of the Thematic Group (TG) on Supporting the Mental Health of Farmers and Farming Communities
The final meeting of the Thematic Group (TG) on Supporting the Mental Health of Farmers and Farming Communities took place in Brussels on 28th May 2024. The TG aimed to identify the most important, urgent and achievable goals to foster the mental health and well-being of farming communities, particularly farmers. A strong Irish contingent participated across all meetings, with several Irish examples presented as case studies. James Claffey represented CAP Network Ireland. 1st meeting of the EU CAP Network Thematic Group on Green Architecture: Designing Green Strategies
The first meeting of the EU CAP Network Thematic Group on Green Architecture: Designing Green Strategies took place online on 11 April 2024. CAP Network Ireland attended this exploration of the various approaches chosen by member states in their implementation of Green Architecture. John Murphy, Agri-Science Project Officer with CAP Network Ireland, was delighted to be invited to participate as a panellist during the discussions that followed the breakout sessions. The innovative use of EIP-Agri projects in Ireland to find grassroots solutions and help inform policy was highlighted. More information.
Empowering Women in Agriculture and Rural Areas: Insights from EU CAP Network Workshop
Niamh Nolan from CAP Network Ireland participated in the EU CAP Network Workshop spotlighting ‘Women-led innovations in agriculture and rural areas’. The event highlighted the opportunities and challenges faced by women in establishing, developing, and scaling up their enterprises. It explored successful strategies and insights from Member States and accomplished women entrepreneurs. With women comprising 51% of the EU population, many are relegated to lower-paid, less prominent positions in the informal job sector. The workshop emphasised the importance of giving women a voice and fostering mutual support along their innovative pathways. More Information.
2nd Thematic Group meeting on the Design and Implementation of Eco-schemes in the new CAP Strategic Plans
The second EU CAP Network Thematic Group (TG) meeting on the Design and Implementation of Eco-schemes in the new CAP Strategic Plans took place in Brussels on 20 February 2024. John Murphy represented CAP Network Ireland at this meeting where delegates from across the EU shared insights on good practice and how eco-schemes interacted with other elements of the Green Architecture in their countries. Ideas and recommendations were also developed for future eco-scheme design and/or implementation. More information.
