LEADER Programme How To Apply Guide

Feb 6, 2025 | LEADER

In early December, CAP Network Ireland launched a new publication entitled ‘2023-2027 LEADER Programme: How To Apply Guide’. This practical, user-friendly publication outlines the LEADER programme funding process. Its launch is particularly timely, as interest in funding support under this programme continues to ramp up in rural areas.

The LEADER programme has played a key role in supporting communities and enterprises in rural areas throughout Ireland for over 30 years. Empowering local communities to actively participate in decisions affecting their area, the programme has supported a diverse range of projects during this period. The current 2023-2027 LEADER Programme, which is administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development and is funded under the CAP Strategic Plan (CSP), will continue to have a sizeable impact in every corner of rural Ireland.

Included in this LEADER Programme How To Apply Guide are details pertaining to the key stages involved in the application process; the three main LEADER themes ((i) Economic Development and Job Creation; (ii) Rural Infrastructure and Social Inclusion; and (iii) Sustainable Development of Rural Environment and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation) and their sub-themes; rates of funding and other additional requirements.

It is our hope that anyone planning to invest in their own business or community project will find this guide to be a useful resource and that it will be a springboard for the development of new and innovative projects right across the country.

Through our work, CAP Network Ireland will continue to develop resources, such as this one, to increase awareness and engagement with the programme.
