Ireland Featured at Agricultural and Rural Inspiration Awards (ARIA)

Feb 16, 2026 | LEADER

Create Green represented Ireland in the Environmental Protection category at the EU CAP Network’s Agricultural and Rural Inspiration Awards (ARIA) 2025. Out of over 120 entries from across Europe, it was selected as one of just 24 finalists, highlighting its practical impact on rural sustainability.

The awards were held on 3 December at the Théâtre du Vaudeville in Brussels, where EU rural development stakeholders, innovators, and policymakers gathered to celebrate CAP-funded projects shaping a sustainable and resilient future for rural Europe. ARIA 2025 highlighted initiatives that are green, smart, socially inclusive, innovative, and community driven, making a tangible difference at local level.

Nominated by CAP Network Ireland, Create Green stood out for its support of rural SMEs adopting sustainable practices. Funded through the 2023–2027 LEADER programme, the initiative supports creative and food/farming businesses in County Offaly, recognising their important role in local economic growth, rural vitality, and regional identity. Developed by Offaly Local Development Company, Create Green provides tailored training and guidance in areas such as energy efficiency, sustainable supply chains, eco-tourism, and SDG-linked branding. By equipping local businesses with these tools, the project helps address climate change, advance the circular economy, and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ARIA 2025 attracted submissions from across the EU, with winning entries including:

  • Dimitra: the way forward for Lucanian farms (Italy) – proving that agriculture can be technological, sustainable and profitable, even for younger generations.
  • Poultree – regenerative cattle and poultry farming (Spain) – demonstrating innovative livestock practices that boost biodiversity and soil health.
  • Mutur Beltz (Spain) – revitalising rural economies through creative design and community engagement.
  • Digital farm succession for gender‑equal entrepreneurship (Sweden) – supporting inclusive farm succession pathways.
  • Changing Roles (Austria) – advancing gender equality in rural education and employment.
  • Farma Rokou (Greece) – bringing local dairy products to life with innovative yoghurt made from freeze‑dried colostrum.

Together, these projects illustrate the diversity, creativity, and impact of CAP-funded initiatives across Europe.
