The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) have reported that since the 18th of October, 8,800 suckler farmers have completed the mandatory Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) training online. A further 2,100 farmers are currently working through the modules and another 700 farmers have attended the in-person training events held earlier in October. So far, almost 70% of all SCEP participants have completed, or are in the process of completing, their SCEP training.
An additional six in-person training events for participants in the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) have been announced by DAFM to facilitate farmers who cannot complete training online ahead of the 15th of November 2024 deadline.
These events will be held at the following locations:
• Treacy’s West County Hotel, Limerick Road, Ennis, Co . Clare on Wednesday 6th November
• The Maritime Hotel, The Quay, Bantry, Co. Cork on Thursday 7th November
• The Brehon Hotel, Muckross Road, Killlarney, Co. Kerry on Friday 8th November
• The Bush Hotel, Main Street, Carrick On Shannon, Co. Leitrim on Monday 11th November
• Ard Ri Hotel, Milltown Road, Tuam, Co. Galway on Tuesday 12th November
• Ardboyne Hotel, Dublin Road, Navan, Co Meath on Wednesday 13th November
These six additional SCEP in-person training events will take place from 9.30am to 2.30pm on the above dates and staff from the department will present all seven modules to SCEP participants who cannot do the training online. Attendees must register in advance and be in attendance for the full duration of the in-person training, which will last approximately 5 hours, including signing in and out of the training. SCEP participants cannot nominate someone to attend in their place and must bring photo ID with them to verify their attendance.
All attendees must sign in, showing a copy of their photo ID, before commencement of the training at 9.30am sharp – sign in will be available from 8.45am. All attendees must also sign out at the end of the training.
