Thematic Group on Farm Diversification

Expressions of interest are being sought for new EU CAP Network Thematic Group (TG) on Farm Diversification. This is an opportunity to be part of a committed group of experts and relevant stakeholders that will explore various issues associated with farm diversification, while engaging in EU-wide networking, sharing experiences and contributing to wider policy reflection.

This TG will explore the opportunities and challenges for farm diversification in the EU and share examples that illustrate the success factors for effective farm diversification. You will also assess the effectiveness of current CAP interventions and wider policy frameworks for supporting farm diversification, as well as identifying opportunities for enhancing the role of the CAP in farm diversification.

The TG will consist of a small group (around 40) of informed and engaged stakeholders including; farm businesses, farming organisations, rural entrepreneurs, farm advisers, Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, National Networks, researchers alongside other relevant stakeholders. Participants will commit to engaging in two meetings and related activities, ensuring diverse perspectives and active contributions to achieving the TG’s objectives.

• The first meeting will take place in person in Brussels, Belgium on Wednesday 4 February 2026;
• The second meeting will take place in person outside Brussels (tbc) on Wednesday 29 April 2026.

Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:

Necessary
• Experience and/or knowledge in relation to diversification of farm businesses;
• Capacity and willingness to engage, network and exchange effectively at national, regional and local levels;
• Firm commitment to participate in two meetings of the Thematic Group and the activities in-between;
• Represent farm-based businesses, farm business organisations, rural entrepreneurs, farm advisers, Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies, National Networks, Local Action Groups, researchers alongside other relevant stakeholders;
• Ability to communicate clearly in English without interpretation.

Desirable
• Commitment to share design and implementation models and best practices with other members during the TG activities; and
• Commitment to share TG outputs with other colleagues or networks outside of the TG.
