Ranking and Selection Continues for TAMS Tranche 10

It has been confirmed that ranking and selection will continue to be applied to applications received in the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) on a differentiated basis, with priority given to applications under farm safety and nutrient storage schemes.

The high volume of applications submitted under Tranche 10 is unprecedented with 7,906 applications submitted by the deadline of December 10, 2025. This level of interest has led to budgetary pressures. Three times the number of applications were made compared to the equivalent period of TAMS 2. Over 59,000 applications were submitted in the first ten tranches and €139 million has been issued so far to farmers for investment in their holdings.

Ranking and Selection to be applied at the following rates across each scheme to manage the number of approvals under Tranche 10 is as follows:

  • SCIS (Solar Capital Investment Scheme) – 10% Selection
  • LESS – (Low Emission Slurry Spreading Scheme) - 10% Selection
  • AWNSS (Animal Welfare Nutrient Storage) - 60% Selection
  • WFCIS (Women Farmer Capital Investment Scheme) - 60% Selection
  • YFCIS (Young Farmer Capital Investment Scheme) - 60% Selection
  • OCIS - (Organic Farmer Capital Investment Scheme) - 60% Selection
  • DES - (Dairy Equipment Scheme) - 10% Selection
  • PPIS - (Pig & Poultry Investment Scheme) - 60% Selection
  • TCIS - (Tillage Capital Investment Scheme) - 50% Selection
  • FSCIS - (Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme) - 100% Selection

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon explained the reasoning behind this announcement: “The numbers of applications received, and approvals issued, to date under certain schemes have well exceeded our expectations. For example, in the case of the Solar Capital Investment Scheme, over 20% of the TAMS budget has been spent on this measure alone. For that reason, I have decided to limit grant aid for solar panels to support on-farm energy consumption only. This will apply to applications submitted in the next tranche, commencing on 7 March.”

It is important to note that 100% of eligible applications under the farm safety scheme will again be selected under this tranche.
