Ranking and selection applied to TAMS Tranche 9 applications

Dec 2, 2025 | Farm Viability, Green Architecture

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, has confirmed on 26 November that ranking and selection will apply to applications submitted under Tranche 9 of the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme, TAMS 3. The process will vary across the different sub-schemes, with the highest priority given to Farm Safety and Nutrient Storage investments.

TAMS 3 continues to be highly successful, with more than €115 million paid to farmers since June last year. Over 45,000 applications were received across the first eight tranches, and more than 39,000 eligible applications have already been approved, allowing farmers to proceed with their investments. This is three times the number approved during the equivalent period under TAMS 2.

The Minister underlined that TAMS 3 operates within a strict financial framework under the CAP Strategic Plan and that available funding is limited. A total of 6,122 applications were submitted under Tranche 9, an increase on the already record-high averages from previous tranches and bringing total applications under TAMS 3 to more than 51,000. In this context, the Minister stated that applying ranking and selection to Tranche 9, and potentially future tranches, is necessary to remain within budget.

Farm Safety and Nutrient Storage applications will receive particular attention due to their importance and also because other schemes, notably the Solar Capital Investment Scheme and the Low Emission Slurry Spreading Scheme, have seen exceptionally strong demand, now accounting for more than 40 percent of the overall TAMS budget.

The Minister also announced the closing dates for all TAMS tranches in 2026/2026 to help farmers and advisors plan their investments:
• Tranche 10: 5 December 2025
• Tranche 11: 6 March 2026
• Tranche 12: 5 June 2026
• Tranche 13: 4 September 2026
• Tranche 14: 4 December 2026

From the tranche opening on 5 December, grant aid for roof replacement will also become available under the Farm Safety Measure. Full details will be published in early December. The Minister encouraged farmers to assess the structural condition of their farm buildings and undertake any necessary work to ensure safety and resilience to future weather events.
