Important Dates for January and February 2026

This list is intended as a resource to stay up to date with the latest deadlines regarding schemes and regulations in Irish agriculture. The information is correct at the time of publication but should only be used as a guide. Please contact the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) or your agricultural advisor for confirmation of these dates. 

January 

Spreading of slurry and farmyard manure is permitted in Zone A from 13 January 2026 

Spreading of chemical fertilisers (N and P) is permitted in Zone A from 27 January 2026 

Spreading of slurry and farmyard manure is permitted in Zone B from 16 January 2026 

Spreading of chemical fertilisers (N and P) is permitted in Zone B from 30 January 2026 

February 

Spreading of slurry and farmyard manure is permitted in Zone C from 01 February 2026 

Applicants wishing to have their Registered Farm Partnership number in time to submit by the 2026 BISS deadline, must submit fully completed application and requirements by 2 February 2026.

Spreading of chemical fertilisers (N and P) is permitted in Zone C from 15 February 2026 

While the deadline for the submission of Annual Declarations for the Low Emission Slurry Spreading (LESS) action under ACRES was 31 October 2025, outstanding LESS Declarations in respect of 2025 must be submitted, using the online portal, by 28 February 2026.   

While the deadline for the submission of the Annual Declaration for the Conservation of Rare Breeds action, under ACRES, in respect of 2024 was 15 November 2025, outstanding returns must be submitted, using the ACRES Rare Breeds online portal on the AgFood system, by 28 February 2026. 

All remaining ACRES soil sample results, or soil sample exemption forms, must be uploaded by 28 February 2026. It should be noted that documents submitted by post or email will not be accepted.
