The Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) was launched in June of this year. So far 46,000 farmers have joined the programme. Under the rules of the scheme, all participating farmers will be required to complete a mandatory ACRES training course in the first year with additional training in the third year of the project. Each farmer will receive €156 upon successful completion of the one-day training.
The training will help farmers understand issues around climate change, the impact of various farming activities on the natural environment and how to safeguard biodiversity on Irish farms. Participating farmers will also learn how to successfully deliver the various actions of the scheme. For information and how to avail of this ACRES training visit here.
