CAP Network Ireland Team Day in Rural Dublin

Sep 15, 2025 | LEADER

CAP Network Ireland recently enjoyed a productive team day out in rural Dublin, mixing work, learning, and a chance to explore a great local project.

The day began at Drinan Enterprise Centre in Swords, where the team held a meeting to share updates and ideas. A highlight of the session was a presentation from Eilish Harrington, CEO of Fingal LEADER Partnership. Eilish spoke about the important role LEADER plays in supporting rural communities and local businesses in rural Dublin, and gave us plenty to think about in terms of collaboration and innovation. She highlighted the importance of targeted calls under the 2023-2027 programme to encourage EOIs across selected themes, and shared some fantastic examples of LEADER projects approved to date.

Team Day

In the afternoon, we made the short trip to Taylor’s of Lusk, a family-run farm producing Irish-grown chilli, garlic, swede, pink onion, and shallot. Alan Taylor, Director, shared the inspiring story of how the business has grown and adapted over time, with valuable support from LEADER along the way. Funding for a feasibility study, as well as investment in facilities and equipment to support the production of chillies and garlic, has helped Taylor’s to diversify and expand, ensuring the farm continues to thrive while bringing locally grown produce to market.

Thanks to the team at Dublin Rural LEADER for their help with planning the day and to all at Taylor’s of Lusk for showing us around. Our team left with new energy, and a deeper understanding of the work happening in rural Dublin.
