CAP Network Ireland Provides SCEP Training Support

Jul 25, 2024 | Climate Change, Farm Viability, Green Architecture

The new Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) has been launched, and to support farmers during the application process, CAP Network Ireland have produced a SCEP Training video guide and a technical help document. The aim of these pieces is to aid the applicant farmers through the process of registering their account, guidance on taking the training modules, and overcoming some of the more common issues applicants may encounter.

The objective of SCEP is to provide support to beef farmers to improve the environmental sustainability of the national beef herd.

The topics covered in the online training course include genotyping, breeding strategies, weight recording, and more. The training support video and document provided by CAP Network Ireland are presented in a way that walks the applicant farmers through the process of sitting the training, taking the modules, and passing the tests. Particular attention has been given to ensure that these support items are tailored to the ‘hard to reach’ community, and those who may be less familiar with computers and online platforms.

One of the requirements for participants of the programme is completion of SCEP training, in full, by 15 November 2024. The other requirements and actions of the programme are set out in the terms and conditions of the scheme available to view at gov – Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) (www.gov.ie)
