On 1 December, balancing payments have commenced under the following schemes:
- Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complementary Redistribution Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS), benefiting 116,681 farmers, with €281 million now issuing as balancing payments and with 98.4% of eligible applicants.
- Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme, with €37 million now paid to 96,000 farmers, representing over 99% of eligible applicants.
- Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF), with €32 million now beginning to issue.
The BISS, CRISS and ANC schemes are designed to provide direct income support to Irish farmers, underpinning their sustainability and viability. These payments are considered vital supports for farm families across the country and for the wider rural economy.
At the same time, support provided through the CISYF scheme plays a key role in encouraging generational renewal within the agriculture sector, with many young farmers benefiting from the increased level of assistance available under the current CAP to help launch their farming careers.
The Minister has called on any farmers with outstanding queries to respond to the Department as soon as possible in order to facilitate payment.
Farmers wishing to contact the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine regarding their BISS or CISYF payments can call the Direct Payments Helpline at 057-8674422. For queries and a detailed breakdown of payments, click here.
