The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has officially commenced the application process for the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability Scheme (BISS), Complementary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS), Eco-Schemes, and other related programs.
In the following days, farmers will receive a BISS information pack via post, containing their maps and land details for the upcoming year. The pack will also include a helpful guide sheet to facilitate farmers and their advisors in completing their online applications. It is crucial for applicants to note that the deadline for BISS applications in 2024 is set for Wednesday the 15th of May, 2024. Farmers and advisors are encouraged to take advantage of the early opening of the application process rather than waiting until closer to the deadline.
Farmers can submit applications for all elements of Direct Payments, including BISS, Eco-Schemes, Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers, Protein Aid, National Reserve, and transferring entitlement, through the online platform.
It is essential that farmers double-check the accuracy of their applications for the Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) and Eco-Scheme, if applicable. Additionally, online claims for the Straw Incorporation Measure, ACRES, and the Organic Farming Scheme are accepted. For ACRES Tranche 2 applicants, access to the BISS application system will be gradually provided in the upcoming weeks as approvals are issued and necessary updates to mapping systems are completed.
