DAFM Seeks User Opinions to Improve AgFood Portal

May 3, 2024 | Farm Viability

The AgFood portal has been a vital resource used by farmers, landowners and agriculture agents for many years to access online services provided by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

These services include the online facilitation of Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) applications as well as other area based schemes. Users can edit maps online relating to land parcels / plots and access information on entitlements.

The Animal Identification and Movement System allows farmers to register calf births and access their cattle register. Equine owners also have access to the equine UELN/Chip Checker
IFORIS Internet allows Registered Foresters to track online the progress of any pre-approval forestry application or to map and submit new pre-approval (Form 1) applications online for the Afforestation, FEPS and Forest Road Scheme. It also allows forest owners registered for online services with the department to apply for the Forestry annual premium online.

Financial Self-Services (FSS) allows users to view their financial data, including historical invoices and payments or pay invoices/overpayments electronically with Debit/Credit Card (with the back-end accounts system and the bank being updated simultaneously). Users can also view, download and print payment remittances and account statements (including annual farmer statements). Customers of the department will access DAFM Financial Self-Services securely from the Single-Sign-On (SSO) through agfood.ie.

Other important services include:

  • online access to the annual nitrogen and phosphorus statements issued by the department
  • make a Nitrates Derogation Application
  • license application system – licences in respect of veterinary medicines can be applied for online

DAFM now want to redesign the AgFood website and input is being sought from users on how to improve the online services provided. A survey has been launched to ask about user experiences of AgFood, which includes some basic questions about users and their use of technology.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes and is anonymous.

The survey can be found here.
